Nixty and Noncommercial
I just read about Nixty at Wired Campus. Sounds like an interesting idea. Provide an elearning platform for people to build courses on, one that uses open content.
Right now, the service is free. Their next step is to enable instructors to charge students for courses, and Nixty will take a cut. I'll be interested to see how they handle Creative Commons Noncommercial licensed content. Apparently, some of the existing courses use MIT OCW content. According to MIT's Terms of Use, that content can't be charged for. Will Nixty be like YouTube and pull offending course only when asked? Or will they try to monitor all the courses that are charging money to guarantee that they are not using Noncommercial licensed content?
